Market Reports

As of August 9, 2019

Butcher cows were $3-4 easier this week as many thin cows came to town. The lack of feed and marginal grass has many cows coming to town in light flesh. Top cows traded up to $85.  Bulls were also easier this week as top bulls barely reached $1. Many bulls on offer were also in thin flesh. Feeder cattle traded with strong undertones as both calves and yearlings begin to move. With a light run of feeder cattle its difficult for buyers to put any kind of loads together to reach Eastern, Western, or Southern feedlots. Many of the cattle offered are remaining local until other auction marts open up for the fall run. These strong undertones should bring optimism for producers that may be forced to sell earlier than they had preferred.
