Hows the cow market you ask? Well, this week butcher cows took off, achieving all time highs. Good fleshed kill cows traded from $226-237. The morning was capped by a pair of big redx cows that weighed exactly 2000 lbs and fetched $240. For easy figuring that's $4800 for a cull cow. Lean cows traded from $210-225. Holstein cows traded from $190-208. Good bulls topped out at $254 which is also fully steady to last weeks market. Feeder cattle continued to trade with excellent demand. Confidence has returned to the market, and cattle will be scarce this spring. Feedlots and grass programs will have to pay up if they want to aquire sufficient inventory. Demand for beef has also increased and fat cattle prices have improved as well.
The market on lambs, sheep, and goats also returned with increased prices.

SUCH ANIMALS WILL BE SUBJECT TO FINES IF DETECTED BY CFIA AT ALL AUCTION MARKETS.

Horned cattle are beginning to be discounted more and more all the time. If you want your cattle to bring a premium price they must be horn free.
If you are planning on selling calves in the next month or so, please call ahead to book your cattle with us. If we know how many cattle are coming it allows us to inform buyers so they can have adequate trucks available.

A REMINDER TO PRODUCERS TO GET YOUR PREMISE ID NUMBERS FROM THE GOVERNMENT. THIS IS GOING TO BECOME MANDATORY IN 2020. ALL PRODUCERS WILL NEED TO FILL OUT MANIFESTS WHENEVER THEY TRANSPORT CATTLE FROM HOME TO EITHER AUCTION MARTS OR PASTURES. THESE MANIFESTS WILL HAVE TO INCLUDE YOUR PREMISE ID NUMBERS AS PART OF THE NEW NATIONAL TRACIBILITY PROGRAM.
