Butcher cows traded at least $7-10 lower this week. More than one participant in the feeding cow market dropped off this week bringing about the lower prices. Cows suitable to go on feed were in the $190-220 range. Good dairy cows traded $145-155. Bulls were lower this week as well. Pretty good bulls traded up to $238. Feeder cattle were trading remarkably well considering the crash in the futures market. Feeder futures dropped $20USD+ in the course of a week. The top end of the feeder cattle market might have dropped $5. Very fortunate considering the state of market affairs. Local orders seem to be helping with the market stability.

SUCH ANIMALS WILL BE SUBJECT TO FINES IF DETECTED BY CFIA AT ALL AUCTION MARKETS.

Horned cattle are beginning to be discounted more and more all the time. If you want your cattle to bring a premium price they must be horn free.
If you are planning on selling calves in the next month or so, please call ahead to book your cattle with us. If we know how many cattle are coming it allows us to inform buyers so they can have adequate trucks available.

A REMINDER TO PRODUCERS TO GET YOUR PREMISE ID NUMBERS FROM THE GOVERNMENT. THIS IS GOING TO BECOME MANDATORY IN 2020. ALL PRODUCERS WILL NEED TO FILL OUT MANIFESTS WHENEVER THEY TRANSPORT CATTLE FROM HOME TO EITHER AUCTION MARTS OR PASTURES. THESE MANIFESTS WILL HAVE TO INCLUDE YOUR PREMISE ID NUMBERS AS PART OF THE NEW NATIONAL TRACIBILITY PROGRAM.
