SPECIAL HOLSTEIN FEEDER SALE
From our August 21st sale we got things rolling shortly after President Trump announced he would be setting up tariffs on beef imports into the USA. This had an immediate impact on cow prices over our last sale. Good kill cows were at least $10 lower. Good dairy kill cows traded $20-40 lower than our previous sale. Bulls were few and moderate in quality and topped out at $280. Feeder cattle were few, with a mixture of yesrling cattle and fresh calves off the cows. Yearlings were shaky on quality and felt the impact of the shaky market the most. We had our first sample of spring calves hitting the market and for the most part things still looked strong. A tidy package of red simm steers weighing 513 hit $655, while the lighter brothers weighing 425 hit $720. As summer begins to wind down and the fall run becomes closer, please don't hesitate to call to find out a sale date that will suit your marketing schedule.

SUCH ANIMALS WILL BE SUBJECT TO FINES IF DETECTED BY CFIA AT ALL AUCTION MARKETS.

Horned cattle are beginning to be discounted more and more all the time. If you want your cattle to bring a premium price they must be horn free.
If you are planning on selling calves in the next month or so, please call ahead to book your cattle with us. If we know how many cattle are coming it allows us to inform buyers so they can have adequate trucks available.

A REMINDER TO PRODUCERS TO GET YOUR PREMISE ID NUMBERS FROM THE GOVERNMENT. THIS IS GOING TO BECOME MANDATORY IN 2020. ALL PRODUCERS WILL NEED TO FILL OUT MANIFESTS WHENEVER THEY TRANSPORT CATTLE FROM HOME TO EITHER AUCTION MARTS OR PASTURES. THESE MANIFESTS WILL HAVE TO INCLUDE YOUR PREMISE ID NUMBERS AS PART OF THE NEW NATIONAL TRACIBILITY PROGRAM.
