SPECIAL HOLSTEIN FEEDER SALE
in welcoming in the new year we are also welcoming in new all time highs in prices. Good meat cows traded $7-8 higher than before Xmas. Top cows traded from $177-184. Good dairy cows traded from $155-160. Good bulls were sharply higher as well. Most good bulls traded right around $220. This weeks sale was short on quantity but all tings pointed towards a much stronger market moving forward. With quality and quantity considered, most classes of feeders traded $10-25 higher.
**PRODUCERS THAT SOLD CATTLE AT OUR RECENT SALES ARE REMINDED THAT CHEQUES ARE AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK. ALL CHEQUES WILL BE HELD FOR PICK UP UNTIL THE POSTAL STRIKE HAS ENDED.

CULL COWS WITH PEAK LACTATION AND LARGE UDDERS ARE CONSIDERED COMPROMISED UNDER THES NEW RULES. ALSO ANY ANIMALS THAT ARE LAME, BLIND, CARRYING RUPTURES ARE ALSO CONSIDERED COMPROMISED. SUCH ANIMALS WILL BE SUBJECT TO FINES IF DETECTED BY CFIA AT ALL AUCTION MARKETS.

Horned cattle are beginning to be discounted more and more all the time. If you want your cattle to bring a premium price they must be horn free.
If you are planning on selling calves in the next month or so, please call ahead to book your cattle with us. If we know how many cattle are coming it allows us to inform buyers so they can have adequate trucks available.

A REMINDER TO PRODUCERS TO GET YOUR PREMISE ID NUMBERS FROM THE GOVERNMENT. THIS IS GOING TO BECOME MANDATORY IN 2020. ALL PRODUCERS WILL NEED TO FILL OUT MANIFESTS WHENEVER THEY TRANSPORT CATTLE FROM HOME TO EITHER AUCTION MARTS OR PASTURES. THESE MANIFESTS WILL HAVE TO INCLUDE YOUR PREMISE ID NUMBERS AS PART OF THE NEW NATIONAL TRACIBILITY PROGRAM.
